Eleni ManousakiResearcher

Dr. Eleni Manousaki is a chemist who obtained her PhD in Environmental Engineering investigating the use of Mediterranean halophytes for cadmium and lead phytoremediation processes in 2008 from the Environmental Engineering Dept., Technical University of Crete, where she also got her MSc investigating the degradation of surfactants in water by means of ultrasonic irradiation. Her research interests focus on environmental bioremediation processes and mainly on phytoremediation technologies for polluted soils, waters and wastewaters with heavy metals and organic contaminants and salt affected soils. She has involved in many National and EU (H2020, LIFE, EEA) projects and she has a publication record that includes 14 papers in referred journals and 31 conference papers and has more than 720 citations with an h-index of 10.

Skills and Expertise: phytoremediation; phytoextraction, phytostabilization & phytoexcretion applications; constructed wetlands; halophytes; plant physiology under stress conditions; heavy metals; salinity; organics.
